Issue 10 — The busywork that feels like purpose
Some work is easy to skip because it obviously doesn't matter. The dangerous work is the other kind — the tasks that feel productive, look responsible, and fill a day completely while moving the actual mission exactly nowhere. It's busywork wearing the costume of purpose, and it's convincing because you really were busy.
At the end of those days you're tired in a way that has nothing to show for it. The tiredness feels earned, which is the trap. Effort and progress are not the same currency, and purpose only spends the second one.
Purpose Check
"My purpose isn't a destination I arrive at, it's a direction I keep choosing."
Look at tomorrow's list before you start it. Mark the one task that actually moves the mission, and the ones that only feel like they do. Do the real one first, while you still have the best of your attention to spend on it.
The line worth stealing: "Busy is not the same as pointed."
